I flew from ATL to DIA this last week. Mid flight our Delta plane flew within a planes length of a United Jet going the opposite direction. They passed our plane on the right close enough you could see into the other windows.
Been traveling for over 30 years and never recalled being that close to another plane that high. Sometimes you'll occasionally see a plane crisscrossing way out in the distance. Never seen a plane come basically head on the opposite direction and pass close enough to see other people on the other plane.
Anyone ever have a similar experience? Am I just crazy or was it something that normally wouldn't have happened? Just curious as it was trippy as shit.
Never seen that before, insane.
Was the plane above or below? The flight patterns are set 1000ft apart.
We were even, that's the crazy part. They came from our right at a slight angle, you could see the contrails went to our 1o'clock. Obviously slightly different angles of approach but as far as altitude, I could see the other windows as they zipped by lol
