Normally, just pinto beans. Today I have a mixed bean variety with about 50% pinto and 50% other types. Soak them all day and then start cooking before bed, they're ready for a very late lunch Sunday.

Are you talking about Hurst Hambeens? I love making that with ham steak pieces in the crock pot.

I usually just get them from one of the local markets that have giant bags of beans.
