Big Mike, and all the other idiots who are opposed to the spelling of the word as "women" are either ignorant, or willfully ignoring facts. (Perhaps a bit of both.) "Woman" comes from "wimman" and "wifman," both of which mean "female human." The "man" part means human, as in "mankind." Male humans were "wermen." A wolf man in popular culture was called a werewolf for the same reason.
