A spectrum doesn't come in degrees; it is a spectrum or it is not a spectrum.
Sex is not a spectrum by the very definition of the term.

Something with exactly two very specific sets of values/possibilities -male or female- is not a "spectrum" ...unless you consider anything with more than a single possibility as constituting a spectrum.

By this definition, if you have Option A and Option B then the whole range of possibilities is exactly two; A or B.
I guess technically that could be considered a spectrum as the possible range of values is greater than one. But still it is or it isn't a spectrum, not to a small or large degree a spectrum.

A light switch has two states; on and off. It is 1 or 0.
It isn't to some small degree one or the other. There is no spectrum of it being 1.1, 1.2, or 1.9.
The circuit is completed or it is not.
The outlet is energized or it is not.
You shove a knife into it and you get shocked/electrocuted or you do not get shocked/electrocuted.
Then again, I'm not a **master electrician** so what do I know about light switches.
