When you consider the basis of LoTR was decrying drug abuse, how could you be surprised?

Decent drug abuse? I never saw that, nor have I heard that anywhere. I thought Tolkien was a linguist, and wanted to develop a world for the languages he had thought of.

The geography was based on Europe and Asia/Africa, but I didn’t think there was much beyond that.
