Hey a fellow saint. Will you help me spread the word? That all cats need to die
Ha, I love song birds and detest cats. I've exterminated most stray cats in our area. Cat's are an invasive species and should be eradicated from our cities.
YEs
Forgot to mention nasty cat scat they leave everywhere and the habit of tomcats to urinate when marking territory. The urine reeks. Also late night yowling as toms contest for mates and turf.
Personal anecdote: Current residence was overloaded with female strays and one grizzled old Tom that did daily patrols. The Tom was brazen with his piss marking so I did not harass him as I always think to observe and plan. Watch their habits as cats typically follow very set roaming patterns as the check for food and mates. Patience and planning are key to successful capture.
First I trapped all females and turned kittens over to animal control. The old Tom then stepped up his patrols as he searched and called for his vanished mates.
One day I caught him spraying a large wood sculpture I was making in the back yard. Now it's more personal as he was actively marking and staining my work which then needed more sanding to remove the stain and stench. Also birds were reluctant to frequent the yard.
Next day while taking a break from the sculpture Tom saunters confidently through the yard and backs up to my sculpture to piss. I firmly tell him, "No, don't you dare!" And he resentfully drops his tail and saunters out the open gate, but pauses next to the gate, raises his tail and sprays piss on the gate as he glares back at me. Mentally I think, "Game on bitch, it's war!" I wash off the wheels of the Cardin the driveway that were stained also with his piss and scrub the garage door that was stained all along the bottom foot with his piss. Hose down the back gate and move my large sculpture off the lawn to the patio. Stage one to erase his markers is complete. Psyop operation.
In response he increased his patrols but only at night when I wasn't around but his path remained unchanged. He stopped marking though so he was aware he was being challenged. Neighbors confessed to daily feeding him and declared him as a sort of pet they didn't own. Hmm, hard to bait a well fed savvy tomcat.
I set out a bowl of contaminated milk which he tasted and rejected. He detected the contaminant and wisely walked on. He left a drip on the sidewalk as proof he had indeed sampled the concoction.
Plan B with live trap I baited with tuna flavored cat food. He passed on it. I tried other flavors which he also rejected and refused to enter the trap. Then I realized cats really love fowl. Turkey dinner was accepted and in the AM I found him in the trap. His terrified yowl as I approached was because he knew I was his mild mannered archenemy. Game over for that Tom but the war is forever because new cats will happily move into the area vacated by previous cats to set up new territories and draw in new harems of stray felines.
I let the new toms alone for a couple weeks as they gain confidence and establish a routine. Then begin the cycle all over again.
