This has been around at least from the 80s. Worked for an orthodontist. We had at least 3 patients a year that would come in to get their mouths “wired shut” to prevent eating such that they could only drink nutrients through a straw. Each “patient” normally only last two weeks before they came in to either have the orthodontist remove the wiring so they could eat, or remove the wiring they already fucked up to open their big maws eat lol.
