I'm posted up smoking a cig in a chair in the shade of our towns plaza. He evidently lives in one of the apartments that open onto it.

So he's walking w a seeing eye dog but nowadays service animals harnesses usually mean like "I am a lonely faggot" so it didn't register to me as his eyes and i took no care to avoid his path or speak my presence. I saw the watch and thought "well he's not blind."

But he totally is. Strafed me with his grocery bags. I got a better look at his obviously pointless eyes then and saw him use his key like he could not see.

An apple watch can speak the time.

I had a watch that did that in the 80s. It had a calculator with a full keypad on it also.

-press button- BONG The...Time...Is...1...52...PM

Even before digital, analog watches without a face were used by sightless for centuries as they could touch the hands on the pocket watch to know what time it was. I don't know of any time period since the dawn of personal timepieces where such a device was ever only for those with functional eyesight, let alone the mere presence of one on an individual immediately signifying that they had functional eyesight.
