I know I would be super totally convinced by it all if I were forced to go. Being forced to do stuff always makes me feel really accepting and open to whoever is doing the forcing.

Islam forced many people (entire countries) to convert to Islam. Communists forced many people to love dear leader. Censorship worked wonders in post war germany.
Force works really well on the average person. When we were told it doesn't work, was that to make us more docile?
Depends on the force used. Being forced to take a bullshit class can just lead to resentment. But if you speak out against Dear Leader and end up with a rat cage on your face, you just might change your mind.
