I don’t think it’d be possible to make a clearer, more succinct argument for a republic solely controlled by people with the capacity to think rationally.
I'm not often blown away by many of these anon posts that get slapped on Poal, but this one was an exception. Not only is it good insight, but it's very well put.
It's fucking gay.
E: What great insight did I miss?
That would certainly be better than what we have now, but voting is still a very crude method of making decisions.
I dunno, I think every system of governance has its flaws and benefits. For example, monarchy can be awesome under a great ruler, but then you have the issue of dumb heirs ruining everything.
As for a republic where, say, only white, property-owning men of 35 years or older could vote - I imagine things could be fantastic, but perhaps not so much for younger guys without property. Still, i imagine they would want what’s best for their sons, so I doubt they’d make it hard for younger men to get property, gain wealth, etc.
We can do better: Voluntaryism. Every man is a dictator on his own property. All political association beyond that is voluntary. Nothing is so perfect that people can't be allowed to choose not to be a part of it.
If you exposed the courts, cops, lawmakers etc. to competition the corrupt ones would be weeded out very quickly.
Voting is not intended as a method of making decisions, or even of providing legitimacy to the rulers, but is a safe means for the transfer of power without murder, chaos or civil war. The losing party can envisage taking power again through winning votes, and the winning party does not feel required to eliminate their rivals.
With the 2020 elections, this implicit contract has broken down, and whether or not Republicans realize it or not, the Democrats certainly get the need to destroy opposition, and are actively engaged in doing so.
I'd say that's a very accurate and realpolitik assessment.
Does Plato's republic discuss topics like this?
It's been a long time since I have read it, and it may not be precisely this topic, but yes. It does.
Plato divides people into Gold, Silver and Bronze, according to their role in life.
I, too, have made a similar division but didn't use gold, sliver and bronze. Thank you.
Gonna read some Plato.
100%. Read the classics while you still have time.
Hamiltonian Fascism is best Fascism.
Hamilton wanted a central bank, what the fuck are you on about?
Owned by who?
Did you just call a /pol/ rhetoric post something to base a government on?
E: Founders spend years studying, reading books, fighting wars, earning life by experience ... some niggerfaggot writes a trite observation and is now accepted as a system of government ... JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.
Nope. Said he made a good argument.
Maybe use your work benefits to learn how to read, glownigger.
I do love to glow. And nigger on the side.
Fuck. Caught.
