My biggest pet peeve: wearing a white Captain's hat with gold anchor, but unironically https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/WXsAAOxyUrZSoHfn/s-l300.jpg

I wore that A LOT as a little kid, dreaming about being a real boat captain someday.

Funny how I never have one now as a real one... Maybe I need one!!

But then, even the stupid greek fisherman's cap seemed like a preposterous affectation, and even the sea gods agreed and blew it off my head while sailing in a good stiff breeze. Out man overboard drills that day did not manage to save that stupid hat! So I chocked it up to it being inappropriate attire.

I find a decent straw hat serves well enough, and if lost overboard, floats well enough for a retarded man overboard drill. But after being rescued, starts falling apart pretty retardedly after a salt water bath. But I'm still wearing the last one that happened to right now. I can smush it down onto my head real well to make it stay there while sanding and varnishing, at least.

Heh, I had a Greek fisherman cap too, but the sun and salt shrank it. Nowadays I rely on a 7-dollar Walmart cap, and I even have a backup that is not splattered with paint, for formal occasions.
