In Germany, we just shake our head at American morality: on the one hand totally prudish, and on the other hand extremely perverse. Many believe that this is connected: the hypocritical morality is so exaggerated that the first part of the journey into perversion is a journey into healthy normality, so no one is alarmed if he slips into the dark side until it's too late.

As an American, I don't see a national morality. Maybe in the past, but now it's up to the individual. I guess I'm black pilled, because I think your second sentence accurately describes the state of 'our' 'nation'.
