Many years ago, I was in grad school. One of my house mates was from Spain.
On the Boston tv news was a story about an abused dog. A fund raising effort had raised $10,000 to help the dog.
My Spanish housemate exclaimed “...for a dog!!! When there are people starving in Roxbury.”
I had to explain “But Pablo, people like DOGS.”
