'surprising'. because the observations do not correlate with the data they plug into models to get a particular outcome. i worked with a gal for a while and the gw topic came up. she argued for the claim using ice breaking off of ice shelves, i said they called shelves because they extend out over water; there is no support underneath; so warmer water can weaken it more. eventually they break off. that was the end of that conversation.
