There used to be a mill in the town I grew up in, my father and grandfather worked there. They still exist, but the point is the company had a forestry division where they would plant their own fast-growing trees (white pine, etc.) and harvest them for the mills.
They didn't do it because it was ecologically friendly, although that was certainly a side benefit. They did it because having your own dedicated supply of material for nothing more than the cost of putting it in and removing it from the ground was good, sustainable business.
Exactly. These idiots seriously believe that the evil loggers just chop down forests whilly nilly. When I tried to explain that land isn't free and it's far more economically feasible to replant and cultivate your own tree groves than attempt to purchase new land Everytime you need new trees, they laughed at me and told me to watch these videos about rain forest deforestation. It's literally apples to oranges.
Considering rain forests are being cut for farming…and every time we do that we find human building remains….equals people are morons.
