Damn. I cited that same study when I was in grad school. One thing that also confounds the implied findings is the value of ocean front property. They claim that hurricanes have become more destructive, but that is measured by damage costs.

Obviously, the same storm today inflicts a greater damage cost than one 20 years ago if the value of the property affected has increased by 600%.
