Not an annual tradition, but a once-in-a-lifetime rite of passage for kids in my extended family: Find the hidden Christmas presents, and rummage through them before Christmas. It marks being old enough to figure things out for yourself and act independently of the parents. All us kids agreed we should do this only once, because it kills the magic of Christmas morning.
