There is more than just css skill involved. You need to capture the true spirit of the season.
To answer the question I sidestepped earlier, the reason the css is sanguine is because it embodies Christmas in a way that is truer to form than the usual veneer of sappy commercialism and/or piety. This is the beginning of winter. It's the time when nights are longest, when sanity is stretched to its thinnest, and when the boundary between hell and earth is most transparent. To celebrate this holiday is to look into the jaws of the wolf and laugh.
I admit that going into two years with this style is cringe, and I'm glad for someone to take it over and make a fresh interpretation. I think your style may reveal something about the season's depths that mine would miss. Just take some time with it and don't bore us all with cliches.
