My wife recently started using this term in regards to Christianity. I never heard it growing up but we went to different forms of churches.

In my short amount of research it seems very jewish. But I'm curious of poals consensus.

She told me according to her understanding is that everyone carries around a bundle of burdens and keep adding to it.

That baffled me because I was always taught that Jesus forgives us and we must forgive ourselves for our own mistakes. Not carry them around like an invisible weight.

Hence why it sounds jewish/stupid to me.

We all have our own cross to bear. Perhaps these "bundles of burden" are the weight of sin pressing the heart and soul. We do not forgive ourselves per se, rather we walk a lifelong journey of repentance in preparation for theosis.
