Never quite understood the reason for the 'no mixed clothing fibers' part.
So I can't wear a cotton shirt and a wool scarf? That's ridiculous.
I am of the impression that the multitude of translations, layer upon layer, have bastardized this word. Known as the Bible.
Edit: Thinking out loud here.maybe it is more along the lines of don't mix your colors. As in nations. People.
It says "a garment" not two different garments. You're just not supposed to wear a blend. Or maybe it's just some sort of metaphor that's been lost to time.

Don't waterdown the products of your labor. Be it your livestock, your fabrics, your livestock or your offspring.
