Kinda bothers me when people use “mashiach” or “Yahusha”. Can we just call him Jesus the Messiah? God created language, and he also created the multitude of languages we see today. So why does it carry any more weight if you say or write (a transliteration) of the word in Hebrew instead of using your own language? Just feels a little pretentious to me.
There got that off my chest.
I know, I have the same reservations about the possible pretensions and purity spirals, but on the other side of the scales the original church has been so deeply buried under layers of traditions, and gnosticism, and paganism, that I think there is a place for reaching back to reconnect with the way, the truth, and the life. Personally, I have found a great deal of really valuable understanding coming from learning about the original language of the scriptures, but I agree with you that our creator can reach us through any language.
