Luckily the Masoretic translators were unable to remove much and instead concentrated on obfuscating meanings with the vowel points (nikkud) and word parsing. This has allowed textual experts to glean a great deal of invaluable information from these texts which is very fortunate since the Septuagint is not perfect either. The talmud mostly predates the Masoretic texts by many centuries.
