It has always struck me as weird that people spend more time chasing a couple of off-hand verses out of idle curiosity than they do the core tenets of the Bible. It's like digging through Tolkien's appendices to speculate on Sauron's cats and ignoring the central message of turning down the power of sophistry (the ring).

I have been guilty of this but it did draw me closer to the scriptures than I perhaps would have been otherwise.
