I'm not sure I follow the logic. Crucifixion was a well known punishment. And the bible is pretty clear Jesus knew both his time of execution and how, long before it happened.
Symbolized the burdens of everyday life.
Christ knows his own death, and foreshadows it. Just as other books in the Bible foreshadow the coming of Christ. The phrase "take up your cross" was Jesus exposing his vulnerability, he isn't saying literally take up a cross, but to expose and carry your own vulnerability and submit to the greater power that will ultimately decide your fate, which is the Lord Almighty.
“Take up your cross” is an acknowledgment of sin unto death. The gruesome image, very familiar to the first century audience, was that of the death penalty, and the idea that with perennial sin, we must regularly condemn our sinful lifestyles, most importantly our pride, and move forward in a new frame of life.
Christ, as God, also has a little thing called omniscience.

What about Mathew 16:24
Also serves as foreshadowing
Went to a Christian recovery meeting with my cousin last night. Here's page 1 of lesson notes they gave out. Not all related but good food for thought (pic8.co)
