For me it's two things: who God is, and the gospel.

God is the eternal, good, all-powerful being who exists in three distinct persons (Father, Son, Spirit).

The gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe. We need to be saved. All have sinned, all deserve death. Jesus lived a sinless live and died for us so that we can - by grace alone (not adding any of our own works/efforts/merit) - be saved.

What are the essentials for you?

Me asking others to identify the essentials of the Christian faith is "secular codespeak"?!?

I do appreciate the desire to avoid minimalism as opposed to having the fullest understanding...

but anyways, you don't seem to be my target audience. I am asking people who would identify as Christian to state what makes them so.

I identify as a secularist tho. I only mean that secularism has become so watered down it allows for accepted pedo and gay priests in the greater christian multiverse. It wasn't meant as an attack on you. I'm just noticing the effects of constant dilution of an unviolent nonsupremacist faith unlike islam or judaism.
