For me it's two things: who God is, and the gospel.

God is the eternal, good, all-powerful being who exists in three distinct persons (Father, Son, Spirit).

The gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe. We need to be saved. All have sinned, all deserve death. Jesus lived a sinless live and died for us so that we can - by grace alone (not adding any of our own works/efforts/merit) - be saved.

What are the essentials for you?

Your answer is a waste of time. I asked what the essence of faith was in the OP and your answer was "faith." Waste of time, simple as.

And yes, to immediately resort to invective doesn't speak well for your status as a Christian.

For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God

Because FAITH is the essence of Faith. It's nothing about doing, acting, or accomplishing. The essence of Fath is itself, is "Belief in the Lord." if you need something succinct.
