gentile: "a race, a nation, the nations (as distinct from Israel)"; in other words, if you are not descended from Israel, you are a gentile. Period. As Jews absolutely are not descended from Israel, they are, by definition, gentiles. As Jews are not Judahites and are not descended from Israel, they are by definition, gentiles. "Jewishness" is not a defining characteristic for non-gentiles. It is, however, a defining attribute for gentiles. Jews are by definition gentiles.
