I regularly read from New Living Translation, but for study I prefer the Septuagint and a KJV.

The Septuagint is easily 800 years older than the Masoretic text. I think the KJV is great for the NT for for the OT there are some pretty stark differences.

In a word, that is why I prefer the Septuagint to the KJV for the OT. The Masoretes were talmudists, not Torah observant. They changed the lifespans of Noahs offspring to make Shem be Melchizedek. It is a common teaching that contradicts the book of Hebrews.

Good to know. I'm about to start another push through the Torah. I'll try the Septuagint version this time.
