Let's say my dad died or something, and I "talk" to him at his grave, would that be a sin? I mean technically im trying to talk to the dead and stuff, so it could be construed as such. But on the other hand, not really.

"Graven images" is the key word here. Graven images are idols, statues, effigies and images used in worship, so as long as you're not bowing down to your granny painting, you're all good.
