Let's say my dad died or something, and I "talk" to him at his grave, would that be a sin? I mean technically im trying to talk to the dead and stuff, so it could be construed as such. But on the other hand, not really.

Others here, I think have the correct answer: so long as you're not worshiping them as false idols.

However, this raises another good question I will bring up to my pastor next week. One of God's commandments we are required to keep:

Exodus 20:4 - Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the Earth.

Does this commandment's reach extend to included images of loved ones we know are in heaven? Those we know that are in hell? For instance, I know my grammy is in heaven for a fact. If I were to paint a picture of her, would that be a sin?

"Graven images" is the key word here. Graven images are idols, statues, effigies and images used in worship, so as long as you're not bowing down to your granny painting, you're all good.
