I understand the importance of easter in terms of jesus, and even there i've heard conflicting ideas in that jesus was not resurrected on easter, or that he was, or that his friend died on the cross. however, how did the easter bunny and the eggs come into play?

Because Easter is just a Christian rebranding of our ancient white religion. Oestre is much older than Jesus. Eggs and rabbits are her symbols of birth and life. The celebration of spring and a new year of light and growth.
