I understand the importance of easter in terms of jesus, and even there i've heard conflicting ideas in that jesus was not resurrected on easter, or that he was, or that his friend died on the cross. however, how did the easter bunny and the eggs come into play?

Chocolate eggs are the way to commercialize and make money off of Christians.
