Happy New Year!

January 1

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? (James 2:22 KJV)

This is speaking of Abraham, but is true for us also. Having faith is necessary to obtain from God, but faith alone is not enough, as it has to be accompanied by works of faith to get the desired results, as faith alone is dead (James 2:20). These truths are something that most Christians do not understand, as many think that faith is all it takes for miracles to happen, or that action is all that is important, but it takes both faith, and then actions of faith to make things happen.

One way to look at it is, that faith is what pleases God (Hebrews 11:6), but unless you act on your faith, what you are believing for will not come to pass. Be sure and do not confuse your actions, or works of faith, as being works of the Law, as they are very different. Works of faith are actions to bring about your wishes which you already believe for (Mark 11:24), while works of the law are actions to try to get something from God, or out of feeling it is necessary to do something to be pleasing to God. If you truly believe something, you will act on it with actions of faith. You get faith by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17), and not by doing something. If you are born again, you are given God’s faith in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Thank you Lord for giving us your faith.
