“Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.” ‭ ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:1-5 ‭KJV‬‬

Here is another translation that renders a simpler understanding of what Paul was saying.

“For, brothers, I don’t want you to miss the significance of what happened to our fathers. All of them were guided by the pillar of cloud, and they all passed through the sea, and in connection with the cloud and with the sea they all immersed themselves into Moshe, and they all drank the same drink from the Spirit — for they drank from a Spirit-sent Rock which followed them, and that Rock was the Messiah. Yet with the majority of them God was not pleased, so their bodies were strewn across the desert.” ‭

That is a useful cross reference, I usually rely on bible-hub which doesn’t seem to have the CJB. Thanks Joey.

I am very fond of the CJB. I own a physical copy of it and always like to cross reference tricky passages with it. I have a Strong’s Concordance and will translate the Greek or Hebrew myself as well, and I have found the CJB to be very reliable in the interpretations.
