Here is another translation that renders a simpler understanding of what Paul was saying.
“For, brothers, I don’t want you to miss the significance of what happened to our fathers. All of them were guided by the pillar of cloud, and they all passed through the sea, and in connection with the cloud and with the sea they all immersed themselves into Moshe, and they all drank the same drink from the Spirit — for they drank from a Spirit-sent Rock which followed them, and that Rock was the Messiah. Yet with the majority of them God was not pleased, so their bodies were strewn across the desert.”
That is a useful cross reference, I usually rely on bible-hub which doesn’t seem to have the CJB. Thanks Joey.
I am very fond of the CJB. I own a physical copy of it and always like to cross reference tricky passages with it. I have a Strong’s Concordance and will translate the Greek or Hebrew myself as well, and I have found the CJB to be very reliable in the interpretations.
