Daily Devotional

December 30

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. - 2 Peter 3:13-14 (KJV)

There are several other scriptures telling us that there will be a new heaven and a new earth (Isaiah 65:17, 66:22 & Revelation 21:1) at the end of time. If you want more information about the end of the age, when God pours out His wrath on this present earth, and gives final judgment, see “New Revelations” page on our web site. On the new earth, God will live with mankind (Revelation 21:3), and Jesus will rule, and all us saints will get to live with them forever – praise God. This is when the lamb will lay with the lion and righteousness will rule, and there will no longer be any pain, sickness, death, or tears ever again – Wow!

Those of us, who are born again, have these things to look forward to, and Peter is telling us that we need to be sure and be found in peace, without spot, and blameless. That does not mean that we will ever be totally sinless, but we can be trying to be as holy as possible (1 Peter 1:15) and that will make us blameless in the sight of God. It takes diligence to be blameless, as you can’t just wish for it, but you must pursue it in everything you say and do. To be right with God, we must try hard to follow all the commands that Jesus gave us, and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Disobeying the Holy Spirit is blasphemy against Him, and can send a born again believer to hell (Matthew 12:31-32). Also you must obey Jesus to assure your salvation (Hebrews 5:9). See our web page for more information on this. Praise God for all His wonderful promises to us, His children – Thank you Lord.
