Merry Christmas!

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. - Luke 2:11-14 (KJV)

The Christmas Story ends. Praise God for our Jesus. This is the angels announcing the birth of Jesus to the shepherds in the field. Notice that Jesus was not only Savior at His birth, but He was Lord at birth. Even though Jesus was a baby, born in the normal manner, He was Lord when born, as God was His father, and the blood of God flowed in His veins, as the blood type comes from the father.

What a sign it was, to have the Messiah born in a manger, and wrapped in swaddling clothes. Who would have ever imagined that God would become a man, and be born in a manger?

What a sight it must have been for these shepherds to see a multitude of heavenly host praising God.

We should always give Glory to God for all He does for us (Psalms 100:4). This verse has been misinterpreted many times, as it is taught that the heavenly host was saying that Jesus would bring peace to the earth, among men, and that is not what it is saying. Jesus himself said that He didn’t come to bring peace but a sword (Matthew 10:34). What they were announcing was that Jesus would bring peace from God toward man, by giving us the New Testament covenant (Jeremiah 31:34). God had been at war with mankind, because of our sin, and Jesus changed all that, and this is what was being said. Praise God for Jesus, and be sure and remember what this day is all about – thank you Jesus.
