Daily Devotional
December 19
51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. - Luke 1:51-53 (KJV)
The Christmas Story continues. God is so awesome. Mary is continuing to give prophecies and it is about things that haven’t happened yet but will. God can see the end, from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10), and He speaks about things that haven’t happened, as if they already had happened (Romans 4:17). Our God doesn’t have any limit as to what He can know, if He chooses to, but He does not like to think on evil, so some things happen that He is not expecting. Us humans can come up with some mighty evil things.
Our Father loves to use those of us that are of low degree, and exalt those that the world rejects. God has chosen the foolish, weak, and base things of this world to confound the wise, strong and proud (1 Corinthians 1:27-28), so that man can not take the credit for what God does through us. Mary felt humbled that God would choose her to bring Jesus into this world, and all these things she was saying were from the Holy Spirit speaking through her.
Our God can fill the hungry, and make poor the rich, and I believe He delights in doing so for those that accept His Son. Praise God for all the wonderful things that He does, for those who love Him and His Son, Jesus.
