An anecdotal story of why keeping the law (all ten of the commandments) is important when we are saved by grace.

A man was spreading down the highway and was pulled over by an officer. The man thought, "Ah, c'mon, I really don't want another ticket."

When the officer approached the man's car, the driver began to plead with the officer, "Please officer, I cannot afford another ticket. If you can find it in your heart to give me a warning, I'll do better and slow down."

Then the officer went back to his vehicle and the driver looked into the rear view mirror and saw the officer writing on his 'pad'. Knowing what is to come, the driver immediately started murmuring about how unjust and inconsiderate the officer was being.

Finally the officer returned and found the window of the driver's car rolled up just enough for the officer to slip the ticket through the reveal of the window. The officer gave the ticket and stated, "Have a good day." And returned to his car and pulled away.

Now, the driver was upset enough to sinply crumple up the ticket and speed off, but just before he decided to do just that he reviewed the damages. To his surprise, he saw that the officer didn't fill out the ticket; but rather that the officer left him a note on the ticket - it read: "I lost my son to a speeding driver 4 years ago today. I am struggling to find forgiveness, but I'm hoping that if I can forgive you, it will help. Please slow down."

Sin is what took God's Son away from Him. He has forgiven those who seek repentance and faith through Jesus Christ. By His grace we can reflect on our involvement in the death of our Savior. It is God's will that we cease from our sinful ways and obey His life preserving laws.

I hope you are blessed by this story. Thank you for reading.
