Daily Devotional

December 12

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. - Luke 1:32-33 (KJV)

The Christmas Story continues. Luke in later scripture traced the ancestry of Mary (Luke 3:23-38), whereas Matthew traced the ancestry of Joseph (Matthew 1:1-16), and that is why the two differ in their lineage from Abraham to Joseph. Jesus was truly the Son of God, as the blood that flows in us humans, come from the seed of the Father, and God was the Father of Jesus, so Jesus had God’s blood flowing through His veins. The Jew’s had known that the Messiah would be a son of David, and would inherit the throne of David’s. Saying that Jesus would be great, is quite an understatement, as He was God in the flesh (John 1:14), and you can’t get any greater than that.

Jesus will reign over His kingdom forever, without end, as once death is conquered and cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:14-15), there will never be any death again forever – praise God. What a wonderful existence it will be, to live in the New Jerusalem with Jesus and the Father (Revelation 21:3), and since God is love (1 John 4:8), how wonderful it will be. Since we are the body of Christ, if born again, we are joint heirs with Him of all God has (Romans 8:17), and that is everything – Wow! Thank you Mary for agreeing to having Jesus, and bringing us a Savior.
