the descent into hell isn't connected to Christ's life or potential sins.

Jesus Christ wasn't damned to hell for sinning.

He went there to free the righteous souls who had perished before humanity's salvation (often referred to as the harrowing of hell).

i do agree though, He was born a man and likely did sin as a man, but He was never damned to hell, but rather descended on a mission.

All mortal men sin Jesus was a mortal man

Before the Harrowing of Hell all sinners went to hell. Period. Jesus is all about the concept of repentance and forgiveness. He broke the bars of Hell and opened a path to Salvation. There are no bars on Hell. This is a fundamental teaching of the Christian faith. The path to salvation is through asking for, and receiving forgiveness. Jesus opened this path to salvation by walking it himself from beginning to end. He was born. He sinned. He died. He went to Hell. He was forgiven. He ascended to Heaven. The only thing he did different was break the bars of Hell
