10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. - 1 Peter 3:10-12 (KJV)
For those that love life, by loving God, who is love, we will see good days, if we will not speak any evil, or lies, or blasphemy. All Christians should give themselves to God completely (Romans 12:1), and refrain from doing, or speaking, any evil things. If we are Christians (little Christ’s), then we should live as Jesus did, and walk after Him (1 Peter 2:22).
The Greek word translated “eschew” in this verse, literally means “to shun”, so we are to shy away from all evil, and are to only do good, seek peace, and seek after the things of God. If we will die to ourselves, and let Christ live through us, we can live holy like Him (1 Peter 1:15). This world is into the “me generation” that is all about us, and what we want, and most are not living a life that would please the Lord, and that is a shame. If you realize that covetousness is idolatry (Colossians 3:5), and it is a sin against God, then you would not want to covet things like we do. Our generation does tend to covet and idolize our possessions, and that is a sin that God hates.
The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and He will answer their prayers, and all who are born again, have the righteousness of Jesus given to them upon salvation, and are righteous before God. Those that do evil are serving the devil, who comes only to steal, kill and destroy us (John 10:10), and God is against the devil. Thank you Jesus for your righteousness.
