November 27

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. - 2 Peter 3:17-18 (KJV)

Peter has been teaching about the need to live a holy life in the previous verses, and is telling us that we already know this, but need to beware of false teachings, that would lead us astray from the truth of the Gospel. The churches are infected with many false teachers, that are leading believers away from God’s truth, and all believers should be reading their bibles, so that they can be aware of false teachings. If you don’t know the Word of God yourself, you can easily be led astray from the truth. You need to give yourself to God and renew your mind with His Word (Romans 12:1-2).

We have already received the grace of God (Titus 2:11), so that we might be saved, and Peter is saying to grow in that grace by gaining knowledge of God through studying His Word. There really is no other way to draw close to Jesus, and the Father, except by knowing what the bible says about them. You can not love God, or Jesus, if you don’t know them, the same way that you can not love another person, if you don’t even know them. All things that pertain to life and godliness are given to us through the knowledge of God (2 Peter 1:3-4), and you can’t have knowledge of God, without studying His Word, the bible. It is important that you study the Old Testament, and New Testament, to fully understand and know God, and to know Him is to love Him. Read your bible, so you can love Him as He loves you, as God is love (1 John 4:8). Praise God for His grace, blessings and love to all His children.
