30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. - Heb 10:30-31 (KJV)
Paul is quoting from Old Testament scripture about vengeance and judgment (Deuteronomy 32:35-36), as God has said He will recompense and judge His people. If you are born again, you are one of God’s chosen people, and these verses belong to you. God also spoke of judging His people in the book of Psalms (Psalms 50:4 & 135:14). This judging of God’s people, is a positive thing, as it is talking about judging the enemies of God’s people, and not the people themselves. God is saying that He will judge the people who do not accept Him, and come against His people – thank you Jesus for making us His people.
To be an enemy of God is not good, as falling into the hands of the living God is surely fearful. All those that do not accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior are asking for the wrath of God, as He will pour out His wrath in final judgment, as shown in the book of Revelation (Revelation 16:1). Peter made it clear that to fall away from God, and become an apostate, was a fearful thing (2 Peter 2:20-22), as you would be better off to never know God, then to know Him and then reject Him. If you just read, and study, the Old Testament scriptures, you will soon find out that to fall under the judgment of God, and the wrath of God, is worse than anything that can happen to us in this world. Know that we are in the end times, and you need to be sure and be walking with the Lord everyday, and watch for His return, so you will be part of the first resurrection of the saints, and be one of the blessed ones (Revelation 20:6). Thank you Lord for all your promises.
