15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. - 1 John 2:15 (KJV)
This is not telling us to not love the things that God created in this world, as we should marvel at all God created, as they declare the glory of God (Psalms 19:1-4). Many people do make the mistake of worshiping God’s creation instead of the Creator, like those that are tree huggers, or are extreme animal lovers. It is just important that you put God first and worship Him with all your heart (Matthew 22:37-38), then you can care for His creation. The next verse explains what John is saying, that you are not to love the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, or the pride of life, as they are just worldly (1 John 2:16), and this world is corrupted by the devil, who is the author of sin.
The love of the things in this world is in opposition to the love of God, and if you are consumed with loving the things of this world, you can not have the love of God in you, as God is love (1 John 4:8). If you are full of God, you will be full of love for heavenly things, not earthly things. When you are born again, you become a citizen of heaven, not of earth, so your love should be on spiritual things, not physical things. If you make yourself a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1), renew your mind (Romans 12:2), and keep your faith in the Lord (Hebrews 11:6), you will be pleasing to the Lord. If you are born again and you do not fall away, or blasphemy the Holy Ghost (Matthew 12:31-32), or disobey Jesus (Hebrews 5:9), you will see your salvation come to pass. Praise God for Jesus.
