Daily Devotional

November 5

19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; - Heb 10:19-21 (KJV)

When Jesus died on the cross, the veil of the Temple was split into from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51), and that signified that the holiest portion of the Temple was now open for us, who are born again, to enter into the very presence of God. This boldness that we now enjoy, to appear before the Father, was because of the blood of Jesus being spilt for us, purifying us before the Father. This is why Jesus said that He was the only way to the Father (John 14:6), as there is no other way.

Jesus flesh was representative of the veil of the Temple, and when His flesh was rent, the veil did also, and by giving His life for us, He made a new and living way for us to be able to fellowship with the Father. This was what eternal life was all about (John 17:3), and is why Jesus had to come and spill His blood for us (John 3:16), so the Father could again fellowship with His creation. It was all about the Father wanting to fellowship with us, and not about us.

Jesus is now our high priest (Hebrews 3:1), after the order of Melchisedec (Hebrews 5:10), in the house of God, and we are the house of Jesus (Hebrews 3:6), and this gives us His righteousness which allows us to appear before the Father. What a wonderful blessing it is, to know that we can appear directly before the Father with our praise, needs, and thanks, in prayer. Praise God for Jesus, and all the blessings He brought to us who believe in Him.
