Tell me friend, what was your favorite childhood smell?
I've lived in Colorado and Montana. One of these places does it right, the other makes you puke at the very concept of religion. In Montana, there is a very big emphasis on choice, and freedom of accepting Jesus Christ. No one can force you to accept Christ, except yourself, and your own heart. As such, more focus is spent on community, and reinforcing the word of God. And we have some pretty outcasted bunch who were accepted and converted to Christianity. However, people are very humble, and try to help each other, regardless of their religious leanings. On top of this, more time is spent trying to understand the lost, so to speak, instead of hurling insults at them. For example, we had a seminar where we talked about how gays are abused, and that to save the gays from their degeneracy, we have to understand why they turned gay in the first place, and how the damage was caused by their environment. This is what I have used for my base standard for what a Christian is. I never realized that the standard I use, is actually extremely high.
Compare this to Colorado, where I want to punch every Christian for being so obnoxiously vomit inducing. Most of them are just flaming liberals who happen to read the bible. Even the hard core sects are just spin offs of non denominational ultra liberal churches. I went to one Baptist church, and i was in awe at how viper like the people were. There was so much gossiping, back stabbing, back door deals, double standards, and overt visceral hatred of conservative ideas. For example, the mask, I told people, I don't believe in masks, so I don't wear them, no. exceptions. However, most of the people in church hate it BUT then wear it anyways and comply, thinking that they only need to compromise a little bit and liberals will somehow be appeased. And the amount of people I came across that have a similar mindset to Montana is a whomping one person, out of 60+ people in the congregation. They also make you sign a paper to not sue other christians, not drink, etc. Ironically i never had to sign such a paper in my church in Montana, because such a paper is non binding and completely retarded. It's quite telling of the religious leanings of an area when the church has to make you sign an agreement to not screw others over.
