Daily Devotional

October 26

25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, 26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. - Mark 5:25-28 (KJV)

This woman, who had the issue of blood twelve years, was desperate, as it was against the law of those days for this woman to be in a public crowd, as she was supposed to be unclean, and let people know that she was. She could have been stoned to death for doing this, but she was desperate.

Even though she had been going to the doctors all those years, they could not cure her, and had cost her all the money that she had. She was only getting worse, and really did not have anything to lose by doing this, as it was her only hope for survival.

She knew of the miraculous power of Jesus to heal people, and she was going to risk it all, to try and get healed. She came through a crowd that was pressing on Jesus (Mark 5:24), and touched the hem of His garment, which means she must have been on her hands and knees, crawling through the crowd of people.

This is one of the principals of healing, is that you must believe and speak to your mountain (problem) about your healing (Matthew 17:20). Also she had faith that she would be healed, and faith in Jesus is necessary for your healing (Matthew 17:20). Her faith was so strong, and her need so great, that the healing flowed out of Jesus without Him even seeing her (Matthew 5:30), and she was healed (Matthew 5:29). Jesus still heals for those that will believe and receive – praise God.
