Read the Bible, it's worth reading. Derive what you can from it on the moral and spiritual levels, but don't take the historical parts too seriously, because there are many untruths and many fantasies and fables that are not factual. Anything that outrages your reason or common sense should be rejected, or at least examined with great critical skepticism. If you know what truth is, and if the Bible tells you something that in your head you know is not true, don't believe it. Reject it. Stay true to the truth -- that is what God would really want you to do, rather than having you slavishly accept something you know is bullshit.
