I have a rare birth defect. After some life events, i pretty much threw up the table and stopped taking all medications for my condition. Within a year I went from a lung capacity of around 45% to a lung capacity of 32%. My lungs lose roughly 1-2% lung capacity a month right now, and with winter coming, the number is bound to get worst over time. However, taking the medication, the lung volume is relatively stable. The question is, is what I'm doing a sin? I don't see it as such, however some could debate it is a form of suicide by medical neglicence. However, the thing is no one cares anyways. My parents wont care if I die, neither will anyone at church. At this point, I think the only person who would care I'm gone is my dog, and even then he would get over it in a month or so.

If the meds give you really bad quality of life, I don't think that's a sin. If it's hurting you more than the disease, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

If you've just given up on life, or giving a damn about it, I'd say that is a sin. Losing faith.

But even if it isn't, I suggest you find a way to serve others; volunteer at a retirement home, animal sanctuary, or something like that. Something you still care about and are physically able to do. Live for the sake of someone else. You'll be doing good, and one day when you are gone, someone will notice and care.

I would perceive it as sin if I were in your situation. It's my job to stay alive as long as possible so I can continue to function as one of God's servants here. My life doesn't belong to me. It's a gift that was granted to me and it's my job to protect it.

Now if that medication you're using has some shady developmental origin, that'd be different for me.

The original drug was discontinued due to prolonged heart inflammation and increased risk of heart attacks. The second medications was just crack in an inhaler, so i felt great, but it did close to nothing for my lung function. The newest ones do work, but they're 3000/month for the entire gamut, so no thank you.

My dog loved my brother-in-law. After my brother-in-law died my dog waited at the front door every Saturday for about 2 years. Don't do that to your dog.

No way is that a sin. Pharmakeia is considered sorcery. You either trust in men playing god; or trust in God. God gave you the breath in your lungs so leave it up to Him. It doesn’t sound like you fear death so that’s a good thing. Enjoy your dog and spend time in prayer and scripture.

Naw, you choosing not to want to take a medication, eat any food, or drink any water, that ain't suicide.

If you shot yourself, hung yourself, or took pills directly to cause death, that's a suicide.

How are you feeling though?
