5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. - 1 Peter 1:5 (KJV)
Peter had just said that our inheritance would not fade away (1 Peter 1:4), and this verse is telling us how to keep our inheritance. We have to keep our faith in the grace that Jesus brought to us (Ephesians 2:8), and not let our faith fall back into being in what we do (works), as faith is what pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). No one can earn self-righteousness good enough to be saved by works (Romans 3:20), as your faith has to stay on the righteousness by grace, through faith, in Jesus for salvation. It is a shame that so many of our churches still teach that you must do all kinds of works to please God, and they totally miss the fact that Jesus fulfilled the entire law for us (Matthew 5:17) – they missed Jesus.
We are kept, and remain, in our salvation by the power of God, as long as we keep our faith in Jesus, and don’t blasphemy the Holy Ghost (Matthew 12:32-33), or disobey Jesus (Hebrews 5:9), as that is rebelling against God. It can send a born again believer to hell (see our web site “New Revelations” page). If you are born again, and keep your faith in Jesus, and don’t blasphemy the Holy Ghost, or disobey Jesus, or renounce Jesus, you will have your salvation completed when Jesus comes again. Even though we are saved when we are born again, we still must maintain that salvation, by working out our salvation (Philippians 2:12), as you can’t lose it, but you can negate it through what you do. Praise God for our salvation and bringing us back into fellowship with our Father, as that is what it is all about (John 17:3) – about Him not us.
